MIRIAM LERNER (Marilyn)

She is thrilled to have happened upon the incredibly vibrant theater scene this state offers, and has appeared in several productions with various companies in Rutland, Wallingford, Fort Salem, Brandon, and Rochester. She has participated since 2023 as a reader (and enthusiastic soup maker and server!) for the Theater in the Woods Ten Minute Plays Festival and considers it an essential part of her theater life! She is honored to have been cast as Marilyn in Old Dogs on the Porch.
MARSHA CASSEL (Ashley)
Marsha is making her first appearance with Theater in the Woods, however she has been a fan for years from the audience. She has also been active with the Paramount Players, the Marble Valley Players and the White River Valley Players. She enjoys the permission of exploring aspects of herself while developing the voice of a new-to-her character.
ANDREW HAMLING (Tommy)
Andrew has been acting since 7th grade and has performed in too many plays to count. Perhaps you’ve seen him perform with Vermont Actor’s Repertory Theater in Love Letters , Marjorie Prime, or The Subject Was Roses, or with Stage Write in The Outsider. He has been a Wallingford resident since 2018, but has been visiting family here in Vermont since the 1970’s. “It is good to be back on stage after some time away, and Tommy is a great character for the comeback.” He’d like to thank Mikki, Live, Herb, the cast and the rest of the production team for their dedication and support.
EVAN G. BREAULT (Walker)
Evan is very excited to be part of his first production with Theater in the Woods. He is a classically trained actor for stage and film. The bulk of his work has been in classical pieces such as Shakespeare and Commedia Dell’arte. He hopes you enjoy this thought-provoking new work.

EIRINN MOODY (Emily)
Eirinn Moody is a homeschooled performer who has spent the past three years with Theater in The Woods, participating as both a camper and a reader for the Ten Minute Plays. She can be found practicing new accents, and portraying characters far beyond her years. Inspired early on by her older siblings, Eirinn found a welcoming home in theater and continues to grow as a confident, creative young artist. Offstage, Eirinn studies at Green Mountain Music, where she plays violin and ukulele, and sings with her beloved teachers Helen and Andrew.
EVIE HENDERSON (Carlene)
Originally from the backwoods of Maine, Evie fell in love with Vermont while pursuing her BFA in Visual Communication at Champlain College in Burlington. Now established as a local graphic designer, she balances her creative career with mountain biking, trivia nights, and now community theater.
Having grown up performing back home in Maine, Evie returned to stage after a 10 year hiatus last April with the Paramount Players, as Little Sally in Urinetown . She is excited to be branching out and getting to know more people in the local theater network, and bring her experience to the spirited Carleen in Old Dogs on the Porch.
Behind the Scenes
HERB CHILDRESS ~ Playwright
Herb has written just about every kind of thing you can imagine, from newspaper features to novels to nonfiction acclaimed by The New Yorker and the Chicago Tribune. He’s had a play in each Theater in the Woods Ten-Minute Plays festival since 2021, including the scene that became the opener of Old Dogs on the Porch.
Herb was born and raised in Michigan, lived in a bunch of other states along the way, and joined his wife Nora in Vermont (state #7) in 2013. Seven seems like enough, don’t you think?
MIKKI LANE ~ Director
Mikki has been seen on stage and behind the scenes in many local productions over the years. Her favorite roles were Madame Thenardier in Les Misérables and The Old Woman in Candide. Mikki spent about 15 years behind the scenes with Rutland Youth Theatre as stage manager, production manager, and director. She is a graduate of the University of South Florida with a BA in Design for Theatre, Virginia Commonwealth University with a BFA in Art, and, most recently, Lesley University with a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in Expressive Arts Therapy.
